External subtitle hijacks default program selection

I am not sure if this is a bug or feature request.

I used kmttg to download a file from my Tivo. It converts it into a transport stream file with the suffix .ts. If I try to open this file with VLC, I just get a black screen. If I rename the file to .mpg.ts, the file behaves normally. When I mentioned this to the creator of kmttg, he seemed surprised. This is why I thought it must have worked in the past.

This happens with every file I have downloaded with kmttg.

I am using Windows 10.

I deleted my VLC prefs, still same issue. I downloaded the nightly build, still same issue.

I see a checkbox to attach files, but no prompt for how to attach them. Maybe it will show on the next screen. I previously uploaded the file.. it is Star Trek episode Allegiance. I will upload it again if I can find the prompt to do so.
