Https url not working in VLC ActiveX Web Plugin in IE
Dear sir, madam,
I experience the following problem, which I suppose to be a bug in VLC Web Plugin, when the VLC Web Plugin is embedded in a Web-page and viewed with Microsoft Internet Explorer.....
The Video does not play when the url supplied as the "target" parameter starts with "https://". When it starts with "http://", there is no problem in Internet Explorer. In other browsers (Opera, Chrome, Firefox,...) this problem does not occur; both http and https work fine in those browsers.
Also, the stand-alone application of the VLC player works fine with those same https url's.
I tried both with https-url's referencing exactly the same domain (target-url of VLC Player hosted on same webserver as web-page the VLC Web Plugin is embedded in) as well as with url's referencing downloadable video-files hosted on other webservers (domains). In both cases, the behavior is the same: the video specified by the "target" parameter isn't being downloaded by the VLC Web Plugin in IE; with http, everything works fine in IE. It's just the combination of IE and "https://" target-url that doesn't work.
