MobileVLCKit doesn't play video on iOS 7.1.1

MobileVLCKit compiled from head on 20Jul head: 1350d548851b9a555297a1267cc926ffdc87e047

Compiled as a framework, Using the SimplePlayback demo project with target set to iOS 7.0

On iOS 7.1.1 (on an iPod touch), the video view is visible (I checked by setting background colour to green), but it doesn't show any video output. (it works fine on iOS 8 and 9)

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
