Crashes on any attempt to play a file in iOS 6

I am using an iPod 4g, running iOS 6.1. After the update to 2.5.0 every time I attempt to open a file VLC pauses for about 10 seconds then crashes. Thus far I have tried MP3 and MP4 files; videos, podcasts, and music files; resuming playback, newly-added and previously-added files, and files in directories/playlists.

I have tried removing and reinstalling the iOS app.
