grey blacks - not limited rgb. nor pixelated start.
hello,
there is a new bug i have noticed since nvidia released the 344 series of its GPU drivers. the problem is when you play a video the entire video will have blacks slightly grey & also colour is washed a little because of the grey effect, throught the entire video. there is no hw decoding enabled & also the screen is set to limited RGB but blacks are displayed properly.
say for example you are watching a film. one time you watch it, it's fine. another time you watch it, no changes made, the effect will exist. the chances of you encountering the bug depend on the driver you were using. 344.75 is the worst offender. tested on nvidia gtx 650 ti boost & gtx 960 vlc 2.1.3 [currently the most stable for me]. i can't test for 2.2 having other fundamental issues.
i have contacted nvidia but aren't keen to get it sorted because other media players are fine.
can be triggered by starting a video or by seeking. again depends on the driver you are using.
best way to trigger:-
use nvidia 344.75 [easiest to reproduce] load 20 h264 videos in playlist. [e.g. tv series] use next video button/seek through the video
should be able to see problem
looks like limited rgb vs full rgb differences
