loop when playing corrupt file crashes vlc

When a corrupt file is loaded and loop is enabled, the playlist loops itself infinity and quickly my laptop fan goes into overdrive.

perhaps there can be a check stopping vlc if the loop is over x repeats per second? or a pause asking if you wish to continue?
