VLC not playing/expanding contents of a folder, can reproduce the bug from reset settings

Encountered a bug where the playlist stops expanding/playing the contents of a folder added to the playlist, first happened when I had been in the settings without actually changing anything. I've managed to narrow it down to a specific category of settings messing with it.

Tried on both 2.1.3 rincewind and just now with vlc-2.2.0-git-20140212-0402-win64.

Steps I take to reproduce the issue: -Fresh install/Reset settings -Uncheck the two prompt settings -Settings -> all -> Input/codecs -I expand all categories and subcategories, just look through all the the subpages without actually changing any settings. -Save -Restart VLC and it no longers plays/expands any folders (tried with both video and audio files).
