HDMI audio is sent to the wrong channels
Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks VLC 2.1.2 x64 Thunderbolt->HDMI adapter Sony STR-DN840, 5.0 setup http://download.tfm.ro/w32/test_ac3.rar is reference source (but reproducible with ANY 5.1 through HDMI on Mac up to now).
When using my Lacie Multimedia HD, 5.0 setup works fine to me connected to the same setup, but when playing BR rips on MKV via my Mac, then I get voices in the SL sp, and the FL/CNT/FR seem to act as the surround ones. With a BR Rip, I get all dialogues to be on the SL, while the FR/CNT/FL seem to act as surrounds! Please note, the following detailed description is specific to the test ac3 file. As just mentioned, it seems that it might vary a bit from time to time. Generally speaking, any multichannel played with VLC via HDMI is wrong and therefore unusable.
In detail, referring to http://download.tfm.ro/w32/test_ac3.rar test and following the test sequence: FL: FL+CNT CNT: SL FR: FL+CNT+FR SL: SL SR: SR
These above are just my details, but the following forum shows many others with the same (or very similar) problem. As not everybody is experiencing this just with Mac, I'll set platform to All.
