Bug Information on "vlc-2.1.2-win32.exe"
For your information -- direct response to me not required unless you wish to.
Last night I installed "vlc-2.1.2-win32.exe" on my computer and it crashed each time I tried to start it. This morning, I uninstalled, cleaned up the registry, etc., and got a new copy of this latest install file from this website. I re-installed, but VLC Media Player still crashed every time on startup with this new release.
My machine is an older HP -- d325uT with AMD Athlon XP2800+ 2.08 Ghz processor, 1 GB RAM. Op Sys is Windows XP Pro, 2002, SP3.
I have been running VLC Media Player for years and never had a problem like this before. No sweat -- I had an old copy of an install file from 3/25/2012 (vlc-2.0.1-win32.exe). I uninstalled the new version and installed the "out-of-date" version. VLC Player runs fine with the 21 month old version. So, I can still watch my videos.
When you come out with the next version after "vlc-2.1.2-win32.exe", I will upgrade the old 2012 version to that. Until then, the old one works fine. Just wanted to let you know about this unexpected problem.
I am probably going to upgrade my entire system in the next few months, but there may be other people with older systems that have experienced this problem with "vlc-2.1.2-win32.exe".
Thanks for a great media player -- this is the only glitch I have ever noticed. Darryl Rogers
