Audio Track 1 not playing sound while other tracks work

I encountered this issue when I tried to play back a .mkv movie file on iPad OS 16.1. I tried to select the audio track for my language, but VLC wouldn't play any sound while the video continued. On Track 2 and on, it plays properly. Anyone familiar with that?
