VLC 3.3.0 prevents navigate through FTP server files

After I connect to my ftp server, the player tries to play everything it’s in there rather than letting me navigate throughout my folder structure. I can’t explore through my folders. Seems like it behaves like a playlist but without me having the option to play what I want.
