Media load fails when VLC is started by Android Auto
Running VLC 3.1.0-RC3 Samsung Galaxy S7 with Android 8.0 Vehicle is a 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Android Auto 4.0.590434-release (Feb 15, 2019)
If VLC is not yet running on the phone when AA is started and I select VLC as the media player from within AA none of my mp3 media collection (about 5000 tracks) loads. This is seen by looking at all tabs in AA or VLC. See attached image AA2.jpg that shows just a few Artists starting with one at the letter H and another at I. They show in the Artist list but when I then go to that artist there is not album or media below it to play. See (Screenshot 3 artist fail) shows what the same looks like on the phone after AA has been unplugged. All my mp3 media is on a micro-SD card which is likely part of the cause of the load failure. I notice I also can't get the Settings to let me put a check next to the micro-SD card (see Screenshot 1 media select fail). It just won't let it check mark. You can also see (Screenshot 2 albums fail) for the list of albums that is nominally none, yet a few names loaded as shown in the Artists tab with no media behind them.
If instead I start VLC on the phone before connecting to AA, then all media loads fine. It then all appears fine on the phone and AA. See (AA1.jpg) and (Screenshot 4 artist pass) for what it looks like when I start VLC before AA is plugged in and all works. You'll also notice that in (Screenshot 4 media select pass) I now have a check mark next to the micro-SD card. Now you can see (Screenshot 6 albums pass) and all the albums that correctly loaded.
