As of 2 updates ago i can no longer play MPEG-4 Video (XVID) files from my Media server.
Hello here are the details of my issue. This started 2 updates ago, prior to the update everything worked fine.
Issue observed on LG G3 Android Phone, OS Version 6.0. NAS Device running Twonky Media Server Version 7.2.70.0
Media Server is hardwired with Cat6 cable to Gigabit home network. Phone is connected via 5Ghz AC wifi (433Mbit)
Codec of .avi files tested (taken from windows vlc codec info since android does not show these details): Video: MPEG-4 Video (XVID), resolution 512x384, frame rate 23.976000, Decoded format: Planar 4:2:0 YUV; Audio: A52 aka AC3, Channels Dolby, Sample rate 48000Hz, Bitrate 192kb/s
Upon trying to play these files a spinning VLC cone icon pops up after 1 second of playing and the file does not play.
NOTE 1: Other more common H.264 .mkv and .mp4 , SD and HD (up to 1080p with DTS) videos play with no issues. Therefore the VLC update may have broken something specifically with the playing of MPEG-4 Xvid codec files.
NOTE 2: I can currently use "Kodi" and the built in "Video Player" android app on the same device, to play the same MPEG-4 Xvid codec files, from the same media server, with no issues. Thus the problem is located with how the VLC app now plays these files.
I hope these details help you isolate this issue. Thank you for your time and your wonderful free app.
