New video player UX/UI is sluggish, distracting and counter-intuitive
Recently updated to version 3.2.0-beta-1 and unfortunately am not too thrilled with certain aspects of the new UX/UI of video player.
My immediate impression was that either VLC app became too resource intensive or something happened to my phone which caused lagging. Turns out there's none of that (hopefully).
The problem is an unnecessary animation delay of up to a second or half after a tap on video before the interface appears. The same animation delay causes interface to take its own sweet time to disappear after another tap to hide it. Please provide an option to disable this animation/delay so that the previous snappy responsive behaviour can be restored.
Another problem is with the rewind/forward. Previously, double tapping to rewind/forward produced a nearly instantaneous result and without taking any focus away from the video being played. But now not only there is this noticeable delay but the video also pauses briefly and on top of that there is a distracting animation as well. Again, please provide an option to disable this animation/delay so that the previous instantaneous and non-distracting behaviour can be restored.
Yet another problem is with the way orientation switch now works. As compared to a single tap required until the previous version, now two taps are required to change the initial video orientation. The first tap locks initial orientation and a second tap is required to switch orientation. This is very annoying and counter-intuitive. Perhaps bind orientation lock feature to the tapping and holding of orientation switch or maybe move this functionality to the lock button. Or whatever, but please revert to the previous behaviour where orientation is switched with just a single first tap.
