VLC stops playing when video follows audio file and screen is shut off

VLC 3.0.11 stops playing a playlist when a video follows an audio file and screen is shut off on my Samsung S7. This seems to happen because VLC tries to pop up the video but can't.

This also happens when VLC plays in background. The video will pop up in foreground while vlc should continue playing in background.
