Player does not open displaying the cover by default

VLC-Android-2.5.7-20171104-0239-ARMv7 on Android 7.0

Every time I'm playing a song, when I enlarge the player to full screen, it's showing the blurry cover as the background image and I must click on that menu item with a musical note to get the 'clean' viewable cover on screen. I find this quite annoying, all other players that I know are displaying the cover by default even the stock one Play Music.

There should be a way, an option, to be able to always show the cover when enlarging the player.

Also notice the covers are cropped, they are rectangular and not square, this is quite disrespectful for the artwork.
