VLC sometimes plays automatically on connecting to Android Auto

Description

Sometimes, on connecting my Google Pixel 6a (USB cable + Bluetooth) via Android Auto (or whatever its has now become, completely built-in to Android 14/ Pixel devices? There is no longer an "Android Auto" 'app' on the phone; Android Auto is just in the phone's Settings now), the last played audio (or even not exactly the last played audio) will start/resume automatically.

Android Auto (in Android 14 Settings) is NOT configured to "Start music automatically" (and that's the only setting I can find in Android Auto on the phone which seems like it might be related).

In VLC: "Resume playback after a call" is NOT enabled. "Detect headset" IS enabled, however "Resume on headset insertion" is NOT enabled. I don't see any other settings that would seem to be related.

I've reviewed the older, related Issues: #2473 (closed) #2161 (closed)

Expected behavior

Audio should not start automatically on connecting to the car.

Actual behavior

Audio sometimes starts automatically.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect Android device to car.
  2. Wait for it.
  3. (sometimes) rapidly aim for the "pause" button on the car's infotainment screen.
