Recurring Database Corruption

Android 11 VLC 3.5.4

Using VLC to access a NAS via Samba. Prefer SMB 1 is unchecked.

Content is mkv video files.

Things go smoothly for a few weeks, but after some time the database simply gets corrupted. Some files are lost, requiring a rescan to find again. Some newly added files or folders are not found during a rescan. Older watched files lose their "watched" status and progress (last position) in history.

Is there simply a point at which VLCs database gets too big and it can't cope?

I've tried deleting VLC and reinstalling, as well as deleting the database, but the problem persists.
