Audio playback still doesn't resume after being paused

Description

Audio playback STILL doesn't resume after being paused for longer than a minute~. Upon switching back to the VLC app to continue playback it simply loses the file from the play que all together. This is extremely frustrating when listening to a long podcast or audiobook file and then having to manually scrub through hours of audio in attempt to find where you left off. This was never a problem on earlier versions of android and this issue appears to have been fixed for video with the introduction of the "resume played videos" setting. Something similar for audio files is much needed. I have searched in attempt to find a solution and this has now been a problem for many years dating back to what appears to be android 10. I'm surprised that it hasn't been resolved by now...

Expected behavior

Playback to resume after pressing play from the point it was paused at as long as the VLC app remains open.

Actual behavior

VLC completely loses track of the file and drops it from the play que.

Steps to reproduce

  • Play an audio file (I use mp3's)
  • Pause playback for a minute or longer~
  • Switch to another app
  • Switch back to VLC and playback is completely lost
