VLC 3.5 issues with DLNA server

VLC 3.5 breaks access to music on a DLNA server in several ways.

Description

I use minidlna 1.2.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 to serve up a bunch of music. I have a folder marked as a favourite in VLC. I have a file in this folder named so that it sorts to the top. The file that should be at the top is named 000Weightless.mp3.

Note that I reported this (in less detail) to android-support@videolan.org and apparently it is being tracked as 30680 but I cannot find this anywhere so I am filing this again from the website.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open the app
  2. Click on the folder
  3. Click play (plays the first file)

Expected behavior

  1. VLC opens to the browse tab.
  2. The folder shows the correct number of items.
  3. The folder populates when I click on it.
  4. 000Weightless sorts to the top, and so plays.

Actual behavior

  1. After upgrading from VLC 3.4.4, VLC does not open to the browse tab. This seems to be a one-time problem.
  2. The folder does not show the number of items.
  3. The folder does not reliably populate, often showing "This folder is empty" instead. This isn't a one-time problem either, with VLC seemingly forgetting the contents of this folder more than it remembers them.
  4. 000Weightless is below many other files. The top file is named 06 Undersea Waltz.mp3.
