Sluggish UI to the point of giving up
Maybe this issue is only limited to a few devices but I just want to let you know the UI is severely inferior to other players out there.
I'm using a Samsung tablet (t800) running stock marshmallow and when I touch the screen during playback to show the UI, by the time the player reacts, it's past the delay to hide it again. The player thinks I'm not inputting so it hides the UI before I get to use it. The result is I have to use the back button to stop the video every time I want to configure something. I need to get some responsiveness to the app so I can catch the UI before it disappears. It can take a whole minute just to do a simple task as just to change volume, brightness, subtitle, ff, rw etc.
I'd just use another player but VLC is the best at software decoding h265 streams. This old tablet can actually software decode 1080p h265 at medium bitrates. MX player can't do it as well, even though it's got a functioning UI and subtitles can easily be downloaded mid-watching.
At first I thought my cpu is just bottlenecking, but I noticed today it's happening with old fashion avi files too that are childsplay for the cpu, and it's happening in HW decode mode too. So it's not a cpu issue.
Just thought I'd let you know. Thanks for reading. Cheers!
