VLC Doesn't Show Up When Clicking on URLs with Dots in Them

VLC doesn't show up as an option to handle video links when the URL has dots in it.

Description

In android, when clicking on a link (to an mp4 file, for example), it shows the relavent applications that can handle the link, like VLC and MPV… but when the URL of the file has dots in it (e.g. https://example.com/files.videos/vid.mp4), VLC won't show up as a viable application to open the link in.

Note that when I copy the URL and paste it manually in VLC it works as usual.

Expected behavior

VLC should show app as an option to open the link in regardless if the URL has dots in it.

Actual behavior

VLC doesn't show up as an option to open the link in when the URL has dots in it.

Steps to reproduce

Click on a video URL with dots in it.
