Can't read SD card while wifi is enabled

When trying to view the files and media on my SD card through VLC it's gets stuck loading indefinitely. I noticed that the only way to get it to read the SD card was to disable the Wi-Fi on the Galaxy S7 G930V I'm using. Android V8.0.0
