Control interface for Android VLC app

Description

The desktop version of VLC has several control interfaces available. I wish to be able to control playback of a local video file on a Samsung tablet. The basic operations I need are "play", "stop" and ideally, "seek". Is there any way of doing this presently via "rc" controls or telnet, for example, or could this be implemented in future versions?
