VLC for FireTV (Amazon) - Video Playback Stops Randomly
Fire OS 6.2.8.1 FireTV Home Version 6321001.1 .
Running VLC FireTV app to play movies, TV programs, photos, and music from several NAS hard disk systems using DLNA. .
While playing movies or TV programs via Ethernet NAS, VLC Media Player stops working and puts me back to the directory list where I selected the movie or TV program. I browse files on the NAS by directory to select what to view next using Browse Folders or Browse Files in VLC. There is NO warning when the interruption happens and timing seems random, though it most often happens after about 20-40 minutes of viewing without using the remote to pause or FRW, etc. In a 2 hour movie, it is not uncommon to have 3 "stops" during the movie, but 1 or 2 is more common. .
Equipment in system: Amazon FireTV 4K, square puck version (not the cube, and not the stick); connected to Marantz 8805 sound processor via HDMI; LAN connection via Wi-Fi. There are times when entire movies or 44 to 58 minute TV episodes play through without any stops. Contact Doug Blackburn dougbbn@yahoo.com for more info if needed. .
**** NEW **** I have disabled the screensaver in the FireTV 4K device in case the VLC FireTV app isn't keeping the FireTV screensaver timer from thinking there is no activity. Need more hours, but first hour was good. The Android version of VLC does not have the shutdown issue at all. We use VLC on smart TVs with Android TV OS.
