Android client doesn't prompt for username/password
I'm trying to use nginx to set up a reverse proxy to an internal h.265 transport stream served over http. I've configured nginx to use basic http authentication. On Windows, when I run VLC 3.0.12, choose Media > Open Network Stream, and enter my URL (e.g. http://hostname/path
), I'm prompted to enter a username/password.
However, when I try doing the same thing with VLC 3.3.4 on Android (More > New Stream, and enter the same http://hostname/path
URL), nothing happens. I am never prompted for a username/password.
Supplying the credentials in the URL (e.g. http://user:password@hostname/path
) does work, but that has the downside of the credentials being cached and visibly displayed in VLC's list of recent streams.
I'm using VLC 3.3.4 on a Moto e5 Play running Android 8.0.0.
