Android TV not loading all files from external hard drive

I have been using the VLC app on the android TV for a few months now and it has always worked perfectly. After a recent update, it will only show files up to "S" and won't load anything else. The files all still work, and can be played on other TV applications (Kodi and the stock app). I've done hard reset on the TV, I've ejected and re-inserted the HD, I've deleted and redownloaded the app, and tried multiple times to refresh and waited well over 10 minutes to see if it will eventually load.

I have tried to search for this problem, but haven't found any solutions. Any help would be great, thanks.

My TV is a Sony 55in Android tv 2018 model.
