Aspect Ratio (Resize Feature) not working on mi box s

hi, I use VLC android in my mibox s, and I notice that the resize feature is not working as expected, all the options the video keeps the original aspect ratio, like the "fit screen" doesn't resize a wide video to use all the pixels on my tv. Is this a known issue?
