Pausing for a minute makes VLC for Android forget which file it is playing

Description

If I'm playing (as audio or video overlay) a file and then pause it for about a minute or two (doesn't seem to be totally consistent) then when I press resume (from the notification area or the button on my earbuds) it jumps to a random file in the same folder and tries to play that. In my case, it tries to play a PDF most of the time.

When I open VLC again and select the orginal file then it resumes from the position I paused it at.

Expected behavior

I can pause indefinitely and resume from where I left off.

Actual behavior

Often when I try to resume from pause it displays a toast message about being unable to find the paused file, and it jumps to another file in the same directory. I can then open the original file manually and it resumes from where it left off.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Play a file
  2. Pause playback
  3. Wait for a few minutes (sorry, the exact duration doesn't seem to be too consistent)
