Audio library: Option to ignore -the- (or other articles) when sorting by artist
This options would allow the user to ignore 'the' when sorting the audio library by artist (or the artist's albums by name) and would likely be located in Settings/Interface. In effect an artist like "The Beatles" would be classified as 'B' rather than 'T'.
This should remain optionnal as some might prefer the sorting to reflect the alphabetical ordering of their files and folders in storage. However it is the sorting method used in music shops and in some other media players for multiple reasons:
- it eleviates confusion for certain artists, where there is no consensus over the name or inconsistency over time ("Buggles", "The Pretty Things"...)
- it groups together artists with similar origins ("Jimi Hendrix"/"The Jimi Hendrix Experience", "Alan Parsons"/"The Alan Parsons Project"...)
This would have the effect of evening-out the repartition of artists per letter of the alphabet. On my device for instance, artists starting with 'T' and 'The' make up 17% of the total, and 'The' artists contribute 11% overall. This would make navigation with the scroll bar on Smartphone smoother.
This option is distinct from the renaming of artists from "The Beach Boys" into "Beach Boys, The" or "Bob Dylan" into "Dylan, Bob", as this requires a deeper understanding of semantics and is more likely to be inaccurate.
