What is the json string in the statistics callbacks intended for?

As it contains rather relevant data that we cannot find in the other classic C fields, I plan to base my developments on it.
However the lack of a schema makes me causious regarding its structure stability in the future releases, and I'm just wondering if it's reasonable to use it. Am I wrong?
