Hi @fkuehne. I am about to start working on this issue and I wanted to get some clarification. I looked at this URL you added on the docs and I am wondering if this issue was aimed at moving everything from https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:IOS/ to the new user documentation. If yes, keeping in mind that this is a user documentation, some contents on this url https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:IOS/ might just be too much for a user (I have attached an image to give you more clarification). Kindly drop more details about this issue. Thanks!
Hey! Great to hear that you'd like to pick this up! Indeed, the table you found is very much useless these days and should not be moved over to the new documentation system. and there might be more that could be critically re-evaluated ;)
Hi @fkuehne, I have been trying to figure out the right place to add the iOS documentation in the new user documentation.
The only information about the iOS operating system in the docs is in the Getting Started section which is focused on installation and interface overview.
Do you think I should create a new folder specifically for iOS in the docs or should I merge it with the existing iOS docs under Interface Overview or Installation?
Hello @edyasikpo,
All the details in the original page are clearly meant to describe the minimal information to start using the VLC iOS app (a "quickstart").
If I had to merge this page, my first proposition would be to:
In the Getting Started section, rename the Interface Overview with something related to Desktop, like Desktop overview, or Desktop quickstart.
Add a new Mobile overview or Mobile quickstart section, with the dedicated iOS quickstart in it.
Does that answer your question ?
Note that some informations should probably be separated in other sections (ie. I want to use another passcode in a new iOS FAQ page ? or the OS compatibility information in the coming compatibility matrix ?)
