x264 core 157 r2969 d4099dd4 breaks old media players

Discovered via tracking of media files, I've noticed that encoding of x264 using version x264 core 157 r2969 d4099dd4

will no longer work on current tv. The tv in question is dated of manufacture 2010-Aug (Samsung Series 6). The software version previously had no issues. The entry for this update is as follows

Remove compatibility workarounds This will break decoding with older versions of FFmpeg/Libav.

This is the case, it has broken playback. I think this backwards compatibility is still required or at least a more granular degradation, or hold off for a few more years
